The Seydel 1847 classic with Powerdraw tuning designed by Brendan Power

Seydel 1847 Classic: Elevating Harmonica Artistry

The Seydel 1847 Classic in PowerBender-Tuning is a harmonica that stands as a testament to both innovation and tradition. Crafted for musicians with the highest ambitions, this harmonica is a master's instrument in every sense.

Boasting a super airtight design and SEYDEL's distinctive Stainless Steel reeds, the 1847 Classic PowerBender harmonica redefines what a harmonica can achieve. The PowerBender tuning takes inspiration from the revered Richter Tuning but with a transformative twist. This alteration in scale ensures that the most vital and melodious notes are effortlessly accessible across all three octaves.

One of the most remarkable features of the PowerBender seydel harmonica is its ability to bend draw notes from holes 1 to 10. This means that in the un-valved version, you have the capacity to overblow every hole 1 to 10, enabling full chromatic playability. Overdraws and blow bends are now rendered obsolete, replaced by straightforward draw bends. The half-valved version offers a harmonious blend of conventional draw bends and valved blow bends, achieving complete chromaticism. It's worth noting that Brendan Power himself plays the PowerBender in its half-valved configuration and strongly recommends it.

In the top octave, the PowerBender harmonica exhibits a remarkable ease of play, with an intuitive quality that allows for seamless transitions from the lower octaves. This ensures that many familiar phrasings can be adopted with ease. Furthermore, the harmonica is designed for effortless playability in the common positions: 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 11th, and 12th.

For musicians seeking versatility across a wide range of musical styles on a diatonic harmonica, the PowerBender is a standout choice. Its unique design and tuning make it an invaluable tool for those looking to push the boundaries of harmonica performance.

Experience the harmonica that redefines what's possible. The Seydel 1847 Classic in PowerBender-Tuning is not just an instrument; it's an invitation to elevate your musical expression to new heights.

I’m going to have to get used to the power draw

So far I havnt been too impressed
I can draw the 789 holes pretty easily but the 10 hole is a problem
Also the upper register(7 hole and above) are not the same draw and blow as 4-6
I guess I’ll just have to play around with it for a while

This was by far the single best harmonica I have ever played. The only reason I did not give it Five stars is that it was a bit painful to play out of the box as it pulled hair from my mustache and forced me to trim my mustache ….. I am looking forward to buying a complete set of 1847 harps at some point, but I believe the Silver1847 might be better for me, as it has a blast if comb rather than a wooden comb. Though I am unsure if the power draws are available in the silver model.

I only wish I had bought this harmonica first as I have spent a ton of money and time trying to buy cheaper models through Amazon, and it only caused me aggravation as so many of the harps I bought on Amazon were faulty in one way or another. This harmonica was in a league of its own in sound and consistency than anything I’ve ever tried before… I am spoiled now, as I never intend to buy anything except 1847 models from now on
